So it was raining during the week and the trees were blooming. Yuck! Then it started snowing! Crazy stuff. So, first the girls played with play-doh....sorry, no pictures of that. Then if that doesn't get your morning started there is always a mountain of clothes to fold. Did I ever mention that I think my least favorite chore is folding laundry?
Then it was on to finger painting in the bathtub. Their own canvas right there and clean-up was like 3 minutes. How awesome is that? Loooove it!
Then I found the coolest tutorial on how to make "Tie-Dyed" eggs at this site. The tie needs to be 100% silk. You cut the stitching on the back and take out the liner. Wrap the bottom part of the tie around a raw egg and secure with a twist tie. Try to get as much of the tie touching the egg as possible or the pattern won't transfer to the tie.
Take them out of the water and let cool before you unwrap. They are very hot! I was so excited to see what mine turned out like. I was kind of disappointed in the green tie, but the flowery tie was AWESOME! I love how they turned out.
Wrap the eggs again with a light-colored, light-weight piece of fabric. An old pillowcase or sheet is perfect. If you go to the thrift store to get ties, you may want to grab a pillowcase too. I just used an old pillow case I had. Secure with another twist tie. Put the eggs in a stainless steel pot of water and make sure all the eggs are covered. Add 1/4 cup white vinegar to the water. Bring to a boil. Once boiling turn down and let simmer for 20-25 minutes.
I don't think I'll be doing regular old egg-dying ever again. This way is alot cooler!
Side note: I thought the green tie was hideously ugly and one that I had gotten at D.I. a long time ago. Unbeknownst to me, it was Jason's old mission tie that some lady gave him and I guess it held some sentamental value. Sorry Jas....it's all for the cause.
Then it was time for bed. This is how Sophie felt about it....
I just love that face. What a crazy kid.
