People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world your best and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It never was between you and them anyway.

Ambition

We have had a wobbly old table from D.I. for about 6 years and I was sick of it. The girls liked to climb on it and it moved like a surf board. So I was out and about at none other than the D.I. and I found this beauty. So much potential, and I love the shape and curves, not to mention it doesn't wobble! It even has a leaf with it. I thought...oh it won't take much to restore it. A little sanding and a little paint and...wualah....a beautiful place to lay my not so beautiful cooking.

A dozen pieces of sand paper, 3 cans of paint, 3 cans of varnish, countless hours, and 2 1/2 months later my beauty is finished. It only took Sophie all of 2 seconds to scratch up the varnished top with a fork. Ugh. Maybe next summer I'll take it out and re-sand and re-varnish the top.I have set up my sewing machine and I didn't think I would like sewing that much, but it is starting to grow on me. When I moved the beautiful dining table in and saw it with our (free) office, dining chairs that are....well, pretty much disgusting from the girls getting food all over them, I knew that I needed to make covers for them that could be washed. Not too shabby for a novice eh? Don't mind the food under the chair....hahaha.

Wow! The table is beautiful!!! Way to go, you ambitious girl, you! And the chair covers are perfect for their purpose. I'm excited you're taking to sewing. It has always been great therapy for me (when my machine is working properly ';') during the winter when it is too cold to be outside in the garden.

Your a creative goddness, Kristal. You never cease to amaze me with your projects. The table looks amazing...can't wait to come over and eat on it next time we plan a play date. We'll have mac n cheese so that Sophers can "paint" all over it in a lovely cheesey orange. ;) Yeah right! You and I can sit at the new classy table and our kids can sit on the floor!

You are so crafty! The table is absolutely beautiful! As for the fork scratches--they add charm--and make it look like an antique--some people purposely put dents and scratches in their furniture to make it look that way.

I'm glad that one of us at least took after mom! The table is beautiful and the chair cover is creative!

Way to go! Especially considering how little time you actually have for things like this. We bought stuff to refinish our table about 4 years ago :) It's never going to happen. Good for you! And good job on Regan's haircut as well. I feel for you sister! Nothing brings out the monster in me more than when Eva pulls her hair out. And she's STILL talking about baby Soapie and Regan at Grandma's house by the way.
