When school started for Jason in August, I took the girls on a 2 week vacation to see my family. It was great. I got a couple cute shots of Sophie out enjoying my mom's flowers. I may be biased, but I think she is pretty darn cute.
Here is one of my trips to see my sister in Vegas. The girls had a fun time mauling my nephew and playing at the park in the water.
While I was with my sister, we went to D.I. and I found this desk/bookshelf for $15!! I could not be parted with her. It was a process getting it home but well worth it. I sanded for hours and painted and now she is in a lot better shape.
I also took a bunch of old bed sheets with me on my trip. I had collected them and wanted to make a blanket out of it. I got it pretty much done and all I had to do when I got home was sew on the binding. It is a king size quilt that I kind of wanted for a picnic blanket.
My mom came up to stay with us for a week. Lucky for me because I got sick and she took care of the girls and the house. We did manage to fit in a couple projects.
Here is a Halloween table runner I put together.
We went to D.I. and found some great stuff. Below was a run down night stand for $4. Well, you can bet I picked that thing up in a hurry and immediately started to paint it when I got home. I LOVE it!!!!!
This is one of the lamps I got at D.I. a while ago. Painted that thing and decorated the lamp shade to match my almost done bedding.
Good times. I did manage to read 4 books in the middle of all that. You'd think I would be going crazy, but I love every minute of spare time I have!!

I really need to go on a DI trip with you! How do you find these things? You must have an eye for it? It that something that you are naturally born with or do I have hope of acquiring it? You're amazing!

Spotting 'smoking deals' at DI or any other thrift shop or bargain counter is definitely a talent--you are the best! I pass by things only to have you turn them into a treasure! I guess necessity is the mother of invention. It was great fun spending time with your cute little girls though my sciatica is paying for it. . .but definitely worth it.

Wow, all your finds are pretty awesome, but I have to say that bookshelf is gorgeous! I just have to see it in person. When you get back from St. George, I'm coming over next week, okay? :)
PS) Could Sopher Dophers BE any cuter? Even in a baggy grey t shirt, she could be a magazine cover child! Such a cutie!
