People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world your best and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It never was between you and them anyway.

Reganisms

My friend Angie takes amazing pictures and I want to learn as much as I can so we went on a walk with our kiddos and I got a couple cute shots. Believe it or not, I didn't ask Regan to pose like that. She did it for some random reason of her own. Can you believe those blue eyes?!?!? Gor.ge.ous. Speaking of eyes, Regan is fascinated with the fact that she has blue eyes like daddy and grandma and Sophie has brown eyes like mama and grandpa. She loves telling me that repeatedly. "I love your eyes mama. They're brown like Sophie."

For the last week, every night at dinner Regan stands up in her chair and starts singing "Old MacDonald". Sophie of course cannot be left out so she stands up and joins in too. Tonight here is how the verse went...
"Old MacDonald had a Regan, e-i-e-i-o. With a talk-talk here, and a talk-talk there......ect." Freakin' hilarious!! At least she knows that about herself.
Sophie was standing there and tooted. In a cute little voice she said, " 'cuse me". I thought to myself..."At least she was polite. Dang, I did something right!"

Sophie HATES to have her teeth brushed. But being the diligent hygienist that I am, I don't take no for an answer. So I lay her between my legs with each arm pinned under a leg. A few months ago this would make her howl like a banshee and I could sort of brush them. Then she started closing her mouth super tight so I started plugging her nose so she would have to open it.
But you don't know Sophie if you think she would go down that easy. This is Stubborn #2 we are talking about here (me being #1). Now, even with her arms and head pinned and her nose plugged, she only opens her mouth a fraction of a millimeter....enough to get air and then closes it until she needs more air. What am I to do with her? Does the end justify the means? I think it does. Along with wanting to get rid of her nasty butt-breath, I want to prevent her from getting dental caries....cavities to the laymen, which is much more intense than merely brushing her teeth. I just imagine my daughter coming up to me someday, full of gratitude and appreciation for the torture we put her through to spare her lovely..........wait a sec, this is reality.....probably not going to happen. However we are talking about Reganisms, so every time we do this we ask Sophie....."Do you want to do this the easy way or the hard way?".
Regan belted out a song for Sophie with those same words while Jason was brushing Sophie's teeth. Pretty darn cute. Regan is so good at making up songs or adding new lyrics to old ones. I LOVE it! Could we have a potenial song writer on our hands?

Tonight Regan was building a tower with her blocks but here's the clincher....it was color coordinated! Either pretty smart or OCD. Time will tell.
Can I just say that I love this stage that Regan is at? She is getting out of the terrible two's and onto the smart, helpful, funny, sweet girl that I knew was in there.

Your kids are so full of personality and cuteness! Glad you keep those Reganisms and Sophieisms coming--helps a little being so far away. Regan is a real ham and Sophie won't be outdone--reminds me of two other little girls I once knew.... BTW, which grandpa has brown eyes--not G Greer--his are green!

Cute post! I can't believe Sophie is not a fan of teeth brushing! :) My boys have like 30 brushes a piece..which is good, because they are ALWAYS losing them! You might try an electric one... that seems to be 'fun' for them.

I love your posts of the girls! I miss them so much! Regan is getting to be quite the little ham. How could Sophie not be in the spotlight too? Mom was right about two other little girls that tried to out do the other!
Love ya

Thank you for your comments! It totally helps to know there are other moms out there that totally get where you're coming from. I love all your stories about your kids too!
They sound so funny. I have some days where I totally love the stage where my kids are and I just want to freeze time. I tell my daughter - OK, you can stop growing now. No more....
Then of course there are other times where I with they would get past this stage! Haha, I guess you just gotta be happy at each stage.
You daughter's seem so sweet and happy and funny.
Thanks for your comments!

Your girls are adorable! Wonder Under is basicly the same thing as Heat and Bond, just a little thinner. I use it because I've heard it's easier for your sewing machine needle to go through. I actually think Heat and Bond is easier to work with, I need to give it a try sometime,I would definitely use the Lite Heat and Bond though. I did use my sewing machine. My sister n' law left me her Bernina while her and her family moved away for 4 years, so now all I think about is what I can sew next :)

Hey there BUDDY! I LOVE to hear stories of you and those adorable monkeys that you have! Reagan and singing is SOOO CUTE & funny! Sophie with the teethbrushing, try to make her cry, or grab the back of her jaw and squeeze it forward. EJ is the best brusher- Jared thinks I gave him a complex- cause he is always brushing his teeth and he lets me floss too! Isaac-he didn't mind at first and tonight he showed some resistance. ot, oh! The pics of Reagan and Sophie are super sweet! Call me when you are in town or coming through and want a pit stop.
